Whether it’s still safe. Still manageable. Still, well… ok.

It’s a heavy thought to carry. And if you’re anything like us it usually arrives at about 2am, which is always lovely!

Here’s what we’d like you to know: for the vast majority of people, staying at home isn’t just possible, it’s the best possible thing for them. Not as a stopgap. Not as a consolation prize. As a genuine, evidence-backed, deeply human choice that can make an enormous difference to health, happiness and quality of life.

Let us explain why.

Home is not just a building

Your loved one’s home is, in the most literal sense, a map of their life. The armchair that has held them through decades of Sunday afternoons. The garden they’ve tended with quiet devotion since before you were born. The photographs on the mantelpiece, the books on the shelf and the particular smell of the kitchen and the neighbours who wave every morning without fail.

These things are not trivial. They are identity, history and belonging made tangible. And for older people especially, particularly those living with conditions like dementia, that sense of place provides something that no care facility, however well-appointed, can fully replicate.

Home, quite simply, feels like home. Nothing else does.

The evidence is rather compelling

We’re not just being sentimental here (although we reserve the right to be sentimental, it’s one of the things we do best). The research consistently shows that older people who remain in their own homes tend to have better mental health, stronger cognitive function and a greater sense of autonomy and self-worth than those who move into residential care earlier than necessary.

Familiarity reduces anxiety. Routine supports cognitive health. Independence, even when it’s gently assisted independence, is enormously good for the soul.

In short: the place your loved one calls home might just be the single most therapeutic environment available to them.

Independence certainly isn’t lost, it’s enhanced.

There’s a common misconception that needing care at home means giving up independence. In reality, it’s quite the opposite. The right home care is designed specifically to preserve independence and to provide a helping hand rather than take over entirely.

Perhaps your loved one manages perfectly well most of the time but needs a little support with medications, or meals, or getting out and about. Perhaps mornings are tricky or evenings feel long. Perhaps they’re absolutely fine on Tuesdays but Fridays are a different matter entirely.

Good home care flexes around them. It fills the gaps without swallowing the whole picture. It says “I’ve got this bit, you just carry on with everything else.”

That’s a very different thing from giving up.

Staying connected to life

One of the quieter tragedies of moving away from home prematurely is losing the threads of ordinary life. The local butcher who always asks about the grandchildren. The Thursday morning coffee with a friend of forty years. The particular pleasure of one’s own kettle, one’s own mug, one’s own biscuit tin.

Life at home means life in the community. It means familiarity, continuity and the small but significant moments that make up a day worth having. A trusted home care companion doesn’t just help with the practical but they actively support your loved one to stay connected to the things and people that bring them joy.

Because joy, at every age, is absolutely the point.

The emotional arithmetic

For families, the decision about care is rarely just practical. It’s emotional, complex and often arrives wrapped in guilt regardless of what you decide. We know this. We see it every day.

What we also see (and we see this pretty much every day) is the relief. The visible, physical, almost audible exhale of a family who finally has the right support in place. Who can visit their mum or dad as a son or daughter again, rather than arriving breathless with a mental checklist and leaving with a knot in their stomach.

Good home care doesn’t just benefit the person receiving it. It gives the whole family permission to breathe.

It’s not about ‘managing’. It’s about living.

We want to be clear about something. Our goal is never simply to keep your loved one ticking along. It’s to help them live well. To live with warmth, with dignity, with laughter where possible and genuine companionship throughout.

Every person we care for is a full human being with a rich history, strong opinions, particular preferences and an entire personality that existed long before they needed a bit of extra support. We show up for all of that. Not just the practical bits.

We hire carers based on character first, because technical skills can be trained but genuine warmth cannot. Our team receives extensive training, mentoring and qualifications…and they love what they do. You can tell. Our people can tell. It rather shows in everything.

So. Home.

It’s where your loved one is most themselves. Where they sleep best, eat best and live best (with the right support)

If you’ve been wondering whether staying at home is really possible, the answer is very often: yes. With a little help, a thoughtful plan and the right person showing up at the door, home can remain exactly what it has always been.

The best place in the world.

Pure Life Care provides compassionate, bespoke home care across Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Thanet and Swale. If you’d like to explore what staying at home could look like for your loved one, we’d love to talk. Get in touch with the team today.

After all there’s no place like it.

The word “dementia” can stop a conversation dead in its tracks. It’s the word nobody quite knows how to respond to, the one that arrives like an uninvited guest and decides it’s staying indefinitely. If someone you love has recently been diagnosed, you may be oscillating between fierce protectiveness and quiet panic. Possibly both at once. With a side of guilt thrown in for good measure.

You are not alone. Not even slightly.

The good news (and yes, there genuinely is good news) is that dementia does not have to mean the end of comfort, connection, joy or a life well-lived. People can still live a fulfilled life with dementia. With the right support at home, your loved one can continue to thrive in the place they know best, surrounded by the things and people that matter most.

So, how exactly does care at home help with dementia? Well pull up a chair, pour yourself a cuppa an let us shed some light for you.

Familiarity is more powerful than you think

For someone living with dementia, familiar surroundings aren’t just nice to have, they’re genuinely therapeutic. The route from the bedroom to the kitchen. The particular creak of the third step. The mug that lives in the second cupboard on the left and has done since 1997. These seemingly ordinary details provide comfort, orientation and a quiet sense of self that can be difficult to preserve elsewhere.

Home is memory made physical. Keeping your loved one in it makes more sense than you might realise.

Routine, rhythm and a reassuring face

Dementia can make the world feel unpredictable and disorienting. A consistent daily routine, you know, same times, same gentle prompts, same reassuring presence. All of these can make an enormous difference to mood, behaviour and overall wellbeing.

This is where a dedicated home care companion becomes something rather special. Not a new face every Tuesday. Not a revolving door of strangers wielding spreadsheets. One trusted, familiar companion who shows up, knows your loved one’s preferences, understands their history, and genuinely cares how their day is going.

At Pure Life we hire on attitude first. Skills can be taught. Kindness? That you either have or you don’t.

The practical stuff that quietly changes everything

Living with dementia can make the everyday feel mountainous. Medications need to be taken at the right time. Meals need to be nutritious and, frankly, actually eaten. Personal care needs to happen with sensitivity and dignity rather than a military-style efficiency that leaves everyone feeling faintly humiliated.

A good home care companion, specifically trained in supporting people with dementia, steps in to help with all of it. This isn’t taking over, but lending a gentle hand wherever it’s needed. We can help with washing and dressing, preparing meals, prompting medication, light household tasks and shopping. They keep things ticking along so that your loved one retains as much independence as possible, for as long as possible.

Most importantly we build a genuine connection with your loved one. We always look beyond the task and see their humanity.

Because independence isn’t just practical. It’s deeply, profoundly important to how we feel about ourselves. And that doesn’t change with a diagnosis.

Connection is not a luxury. It’s a lifeline.

Loneliness and dementia are an especially cruel combination. Isolation can accelerate cognitive decline, worsen anxiety and chip away at quality of life faster than almost anything else. Conversation, laughter, a shared cup of tea and a proper natter about nothing in particular, these things matter enormously.

A compassionate home carer brings companionship as standard. They remember that your loved one once danced every Saturday night at a ballroom in Herne Bay. They listen to the story about the summer of ’72 for the fourth time with the same genuine smile as the first. They notice when something is off and act accordingly.

They become, in the truest sense, part of the family.

And you? You matter too.

Caring for a loved one with dementia, even from a distance, even part-time is exhausting in ways that are hard to articulate to anyone who hasn’t experienced it. The worry doesn’t clock off. The mental load is relentless. The guilt arrives uninvited and overstays its welcome.

Having a trusted carer at home doesn’t mean stepping back from your loved one. It means showing up for them better, because you’re not running on empty. It means sleeping at night knowing someone wonderful has things in hand. It means getting your mum or dad the consistent, specialist, deeply human support that dementia genuinely requires.

It means being a son and daughter again.

Consider it less passing the baton, more building a team.

A bespoke plan, not a one-size-fits-all tick box

Every person living with dementia is different. Their needs, their preferences, their quirks and their joys are entirely their own. A care plan that works beautifully for one person might be completely wrong for another.

At Pure Life Care, we start with a thorough, thoughtful assessment. This involves getting to know your loved one properly before we ever put pen to paper. We call this ‘coffee before care’. We work with you and your family to create something that genuinely fits, and we revisit it regularly because dementia is not static and neither are we.

No clipboards wielded like weapons. No boxes ticked for the sake of it. Just real, attentive, personalised care. Delivered by people who actually love what they do.

The spring in the step stays

Dementia changes things. We won’t pretend otherwise. But it doesn’t have to mean the loss of laughter, dignity, joy or a home filled with warmth. With the right care, the right companion and the right plan in place, your loved one can continue to live well in the truest sense of those words.

Pure Life Care is proud to provide specialist dementia support across Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Swale and Thanet. It’s the professional, compassionate, deeply human care your loved one deserves in the place they love most.

If you’d like to find out how we can help, we’d genuinely love to hear from you. Get in touch with the team today. The kettle’s always on.

You follow?? So we make sharing laughter and moments of joy a priority.

However, there is something that has been bothering us. Enough for us to get serious about.

Loneliness! Yes the dreaded word. A feeling we have all felt but at times don’t know that’s what it is. The emptiness that comes from not having that one person to be truly vulnerable with. To genuinely connect with. Someone who sees our humanity and lets us know, in subtle ways, that they care. That we matter.

Yes lonliness is an epidemic of epic proportions and none of us are immune from it.

And strangely, it’s happening at a time when we’ve never been more “connected”.

Phones buzz constantly. Social media scrolls endlessly. Messages ping throughout the day.

Yet how many of us have experienced sitting next to someone on the sofa, both of us with our heads completely immersed in Tik Tok, Insta reels and You Tube shorts??

Two people in the same room.

Miles apart.

The conversation fades. The connection becomes bare. And somewhere along the way the strange numbness of not being truly seen, heard or valued begins to creep in. Unwittingly.

For people who are maybe less mobile and have less social opportunities this feeling can become even more profound.

Children grow up. Friends move away. Social circles shrink. And suddenly the house that once felt lively becomes just a little too quiet.

Across Canterbury, Thanet and Swale we encounter many people who find themselves spending long stretches of time alone.

And loneliness isn’t just unpleasant, it can also affect our health.

Research suggests that chronic loneliness and isolation can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and depression. In fact, some studies have found that prolonged loneliness may be as harmful to health as smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.¹

Which is a sobering thought indeed.

Because humans were never designed to live life entirely alone.

We’re wired for connection.

For conversation.

For laughter.

For someone to sit with us and share a moment.

That’s why companionship is one of the most valuable parts of home care services in Kent, yet it’s often the most overlooked.

A good home care professional doesn’t simply complete tasks.

They bring warmth into the home.

They might share a cup of tea, chat about the news, help with a crossword puzzle, or enjoy a gentle walk to the local shop. Sometimes they simply sit and listen to stories that deserve to be heard.

Stories about childhood adventures.

About careers, families, victories and heartbreaks.

Because every life holds stories worth telling.

And every person deserves to feel valued.

When families explore care at home services in Swale, Canterbury or Thanet, we always take time to understand the personality behind the support needs.

What makes your loved one smile?

What hobbies do they enjoy?

What brings them comfort?

What kind of company would they genuinely enjoy?

From there we carefully match them with a carer who shares similar values and interests whenever possible.

That way it never feels like a stranger entering the home.

It feels like someone they’re genuinely pleased to see.

Someone who listens.

Someone who notices.

Someone who values them.

Pure Life Care provides compassionate companionship care and home support across East Kent, including Sittingbourne, Sheerness, Faversham, Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate.

Because sometimes the most powerful form of care begins with something very simple.

A genuine connection.

A friendly conversation.

And a good cup of tea.

¹ Research referenced from Public Health England and Holt-Lunstad et al. meta-analysis on social isolation and mortality risk, widely cited by organisations including The Campaign to End Loneliness and Age UK.

If your dad is still climbing ladders to clean the gutters, baking Victoria sponges for the neighbours and beating everyone at Scrabble, then it’s probably safe to say he’s doing just fine.

But life has a funny way of quietly changing pace.

Perhaps the fridge starts filling up with food that’s seen better days. Maybe tablet consumption become a little… flexible. Or the once immaculate house now looks like it’s been hosting an enthusiastic dust convention.

These things rarely happen overnight.

They creep in gently.

Until one day you find yourself wondering whether a little extra support at home might make life easier for everyone.

For many families across the Whitstable, Herne Bay and Canterbury communities, this moment can feel emotional. We get it. We’ve been there. And live this every day,

After all, asking for help isn’t always easy.

Most people would rather scratch their left eyeball with a spoon than admit they need assistance. Independence matters. Pride matters. We get that too. Which is exactly why the right home care service doesn’t take independence away.

It protects it.

So what actually happens when you explore care at home?

When families contact Pure Life Homecare, we start with a relaxed conversation. No pressure. No ticking clocks. Just people talking to people. Getting to understand a little about each other. We call it coffee before care.

If it feels right, we arrange a friendly assessment in your loved one’s home. We take time to understand their routine, their preferences and what support might genuinely help.

Perhaps they need assistance with medication. Maybe help preparing meals or keeping the house tidy. Or perhaps they’d simply enjoy some companionship and a friendly face popping in each day.

Together we build a personalised home care plan, designed with you or your loved one at the very heart of it.

Because care should fit around life, not the other way around.

Our colleagues are carefully selected first and foremost for their kindness, patience and character. For their ability to tap into their innate human instincts of compassion, empathy and love. We then support them with training, mentoring and professional qualifications so they can deliver exceptional care at home services right where you need it, in Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Sittingbourne, Faversham and Thanet.

Before long, something that once felt like a difficult step often becomes something to look forward to.

A genuine connection with someone who values the person you are.

With someone who sees your humanity and understands.

A friendly smile, from a from a friendly face.

Moments of joy woven into your life.

A little extra peace of mind.

Pure Life Homecare Care proudly provides award winning, trusted home care services to people across East Kent.

Because growing older shouldn’t mean leaving the place you love most.

Home.

One person is vegan. Two don’t touch lactose. Three kids are high on sugar. The dogs lost the plot, and someone’s had a drop too much Bailey’s.

Shops are rammed. Elbows are sharp. Christmas pudding is sought.
It’s Christmas all right.
And regardless of all the chaos, cramming and planning, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Turkey, trimmings, TV… the occasional drama over the remote. All washed down with a drop of wine (or two) and a gift.
Whether you’re spending Christmas with friends and family, or you’re having a cosy Christmas at home, we have some top tips to keep it cool, calm, fun and festive.

The Pure Life Top #10 Satirical Tips for Surviving (and Thriving) This Christmas

First on the list is family. We absolutely love them, don’t we? But throw everyone under one roof and it can be like watching a documentary on Netflix. The key is to position yourself adjacent to the drinks cabinet and befriend the chef. We jest of course, mostly. But whether you’re hosting or a guest, this one is relevant: Get stuck in. Hand out lots of little jobs, offer to help, make it light work. Christmas is NOT about one poor soul sweating for nine hours in the kitchen.

Food! Turkey, pigs in blankets, crispy, fluffy roast potatoes, sprouts (?), lashings of gravy… Christmas dinner is an institution. Find out the timings, never arrive hungry and offer to bring dessert (you can never have too much dessert).

Memories! No one remembers the clothes or gadgets they got in 2017. They remember the moments. Why not play a fun, family game, dig out the old family photos and videos, or pop on your fave Christmas movie? Everyone will be smiling and chilling in no time.

Go small (gifts we mean). No one wants to file for bankruptcy by Easter. You can pop a penny or two in their Christmas card and gift something small and fun. Novelty Christmas pants, a T-shirt with a funny photo printed on the front, a canvas collage with your best, bad pictures… Thoughtful over stressful.

People pleasing – just say no. If you don’t want to host the in-laws this year, just be the bigger person and offer them a seat outside. The fresh air will do them good. Joking aside, you can sidestep what you don’t want to do with a counteroffer. That’s what Boxing Day or New Year’s Eve are for. The festive season shouldn’t be spent feeling like the head chef of a restaurant with enough swearing and stress to put Gordon Ramsey to shame.

The dress code: Whether you’re full Christmas glamour or something stretchy and tactical, find out beforehand. Pro tip – why not start glamorous and have some emergency elasticated clothes ready for the post-lunch lull?

Alcohol: Slow and steady wins this race. No one wants to be that Repeat after me… bucks fizz and mince pies are not an all-day event.

Outdoors: That’s right. If it’s getting frenetic, remember humans are like dogs. Three square meals and plenty of fresh air. A Christmas day stroll is just the ticket to expend some festive, fizzy energy.

Goodwill to all men. Should anyone get a little ‘animated’ after too much pinot, see point 8.

All in all… the 25th of December is not a deadline, it’s a holiday. Do Christmas your way, self-gift to your heart’s content and schedule plenty of ‘you’ time.

And don’t forget to befriend the bar manager…

That’s all from us at Pure Life Care for 2024. It’s been a year filled with companionship and care for the senior community of Kent and our pleasure to do care properly.

All that remains is to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and extend blessings, care and happiness for 2025!

It’s been shown to reduce stress, increase physical health and improve mental wellbeing.
According to experts, we gardeners enjoy 4.2% lower stress levels.
And can you ever beat getting outdoors, soaking in the vitamin D and being present in nature?
With arguably some of the best garden centres right here on our doorstep, we’ve created a list of Canterbury’s finest.

The Best Garden Centres in Canterbury

In collaboration with the National Trust, Canterbury Chartham Garden Centre is a multi-award-winning treasure trove of greenery. Situated on the A28 just outside historic Canterbury, you can enjoy everything from Christmas experiences to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Fire pits, a gardening hub, restaurants, a patisserie, national trust collections… this blue diamond experience is everything you could wish for.

Canterbury Garden Centre boasts plenty to enjoy. Spacious, modern and with an exceptional team of staff, this garden centre goes back to 2009 and is renowned for a strong horticultural background, knowledge, and presentation. Their comprehensive range of garden and cane furniture is one the biggest in the southeast. Not sure how it will look in your garden? No problem. Their unique ‘try before you buy’ service breeds the ultimate convenience and peace of mind. A coffee shop, a restaurant, a children’s play area… Canterbury Garden Centre is an enjoyable day for all the family.

Meadow Grange Nursery offers an extensive covered and outside plant area with one of the largest ranges of trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials, and summer and winter bedding plants in the area. Their fully stocked farm shop boasts fresh meat, cheese, bread, wines and beers. Book to enjoy their Santa experience in December and if you enjoy a real log fire, they just so happen to be independent firewood specialists.

According to a recent review, “5 stars just doesn’t do them justice.” The Gardeners Paradise at Badgers Hill Garden Centre and Landscaping has donkeys! Perhaps we should just stop there? Enjoy a little music? They run concerts during the summer months in their beautiful garden where the café service extends to a pop-up bar with ice creams. Delicious food is served all day and they stock everything your garden desires. Topsoil, plants, trees, palms, decorative ornaments, high-quality sheds and more.

Getting older doesn’t (always) have to mean doing less. And with plenty to enjoy on our green Canterbury coast, it doesn’t have to.

New friends, new plants, new hobbies and cake await!

And you absolutely might run into one of the team on their day off at that pop-up bar…

OK, we know we had you at ‘dog’.
They’re purposefully designed to be super cute so you can forgive all their sins.

But between licking leftovers, stalking you to the loo, hogging half your bed and barking at anyone who deigns to walk within 50 feet of your home, they really are your best friend.
And the friendship doesn’t end there.

Once you get a dog, you’re in.

No longer do you wander the walks of Whitstable, Herne Bay and Canterbury unnoticed. You’re part of a secret society. Where you previously wandered said routes invisible to your fellow man; other dog owners now nod, smile, stop and chat.

But let us be plain; you are no longer a person in your own right. You are simply your pup’s mum/dad. “Oh, look, there’s Archie’s dad”, they’ll cry. Just make your peace with it.
In light of your newfound fame, your furry friend is a great way to enjoy the green garden of England, grab some exercise and socialise.

Coastal walks, historic routes, woodland walks… there is plenty to choose from. And if you’re looking for the best places to walk your dog, then look no further.

The Best Dog Walks of Whitstable, Canterbury and Herne Bay

Whitstable’s West Beach is a popular dog-friendly spot that boasts a stunning view of the sunset and plenty of fishing boats, huts and groynes for your pup to explore. Plus, 98% of beaches along the coast of Canterbury are dog-friendly all year round.

If a slightly longer walk is more your thing, then dust off your hiking shoes for The Crab and Winkle Walk. This 7.6-mile route follows the old Crab and Winkle railway line from Canterbury to Whitstable. It conveniently passes through picturesque Blean Woods which has designated trails for your dog.

Speaking of Blean Woods… why not visit Clowes Wood? This lesser-known woodland in the Blean Wood nature reserve is highly accessible for all thanks to a purpose-built pathway. Wind your way down the plentiful single-track paths and get your steps in.

Looking for your historical fix? “Old Dog, New Tricks” is a gentler, family-friendly 1.5-mile walk that follows the footsteps of Queen Bertha around Canterbury. Historical sites include Canterbury Cathedral, St. Augustine’s Abbey, and St. Martins Church.

Chartham to Canterbury is a flat, pedestrianised and (frankly) beautiful route along the banks of the River Stour. Pass heritage sites such as Chartham Paper Mill and Milton Church. Look out for wildlife on your 3-mile walk including Kingfishers and areas of natural beauty.

There are plenty of cafes and refreshment spots dotted along the coastline and many welcome dogs inside – ideal if the weather is inclement or a cup of tea is calling. Your furry friend can enjoy a welcome bowl of water.

Getting out and about is an ideal way to look after yourself, and your dog, and socially take in the stunning sights of Whitstable, Herne Bay and Canterbury.

Dust off your dog-walking shoes. Grab the dog lead. Adventure awaits!

And you just never know who you might meet. It could wind up tea for two (or should we say four?).

Mental health matters.
Thank goodness the world awoke to that.

That space between your ears can be friend or foe and swaps sides regularly.

Of course, we need mental health support.

Sailing through the entirety of life without the slightest dark cloud on the horizon is about as likely as winning the lottery.
Life loves a curveball.

Bereavement, the breakdown of a relationship, financial problems, trauma… the list goes on.
Mental illnesses affect a huge number of the population. Autism, depression, ADHD, addiction… they strike without prejudice.

Scientists have now discovered humans aren’t the only animals to do all this (over?) thinking. Mammals, birds and even Octopuses have cognitive abilities.

Who knew?

But I think we’ve all known for a long time that mental health support is essential. It doesn’t just save lives. It makes them more enjoyable.

Amen to that.

Pure Life Care is all about supporting the elderly community of Kent and giving them the best care and quality of life. And that includes providing practical and professional mental health support at home…

A Loved One Requires Mental Health Support at Home; What Can You Expect?

Everyone’s mental health needs are varied. Our dedicated Mental Health Team provides the experience and empathy to support your loved one. From drug addiction to escalating erratic behaviour, our team tailors support, and identifies and implements the practical steps needed to improve their quality of life.

Once you decide that professional care at home is the right solution for your loved one, it all starts with an assessment. This knowledge will drive their bespoke care plan and ensure it meets everyone’s needs.

Mental health support can be critical for the elderly. Isolation makes them particularly vulnerable. The Mental Health Support Team will be active and available. Daily visits, companionship, and getting out of the house are just some of the ways we can help. They won’t just be kept in the picture. They are the picture and as such, our care will help them face and overcome their unique challenges.

Confidence is key. Sadly, it’s easily eroded as we age for a multitude of reasons. The Mental Health Support Team is adept at helping them restore their confidence so they can enjoy a happier, and more stable and fulfilling life.

Training and development are fundamental to the breadth of support we offer to the elderly community. For that reason, our team members all have individual mentors, undergo regular training to provide the best and most relevant care and are often working towards individual goals and accreditations. It’s great for them and peace of mind for you.

If your loved one could benefit from proactive, professional, mental health support at home, why not have a chat to find out how we can support their wellbeing?

We’re accredited by the NHS, Kent County Council, The Care Quality Commission, and The Homecare Association (just to shamelessly namedrop).

Pure Life Care is changing the landscape of mental health support for the elderly community of Kent, one family at a time.

It’s the professional support they need with the dignity they deserve.

Perhaps we ought to begin with what in-home care services should definitely not include…

When you think of your loved one being cared for in their home, rarely does the vision include an endless parade of new faces (Oprah Winfrey has met fewer people). A box-ticking exercise is also a huge miss (call us crazy, people are not boxes). Generic care plans administered with the bedside manner of Simon Cowell aren’t ideal either.

We’ve all heard some scary stories regarding professional in-home care services for the elderly. Worse, we’ve witnessed them.

It can leave you feeling clueless and concerned when it’s time to consider in-home care services for your mum, dad, or loved one.

You want them to feel happy when their home carer calls. You’ve provided the ideal companion. Someone to step in when you can’t. Someone to lighten the load and boost morale. This someone has a very special task indeed. They’re responsible for your loved one and that is a responsibility we take very seriously.

Call us old-fashioned. We like to leave every cherished member of our Kent community with a spring in their step and a gleam in their eye. Every day is another gift to cherish with loved ones, and friends old and new.

So, how do we find and select your perfect home-care companion?

We hire based on attitude and character and provide extensive training, qualifications, remuneration and mentoring to match.

Once you and your loved one decide it might be time to get some extra in-home help, your designated carer will conduct a bespoke assessment to understand your needs. Perhaps they need to show up at certain times and assist with medication. Maybe they need to lend a hand around the house. Help with shopping, meals, washing, cleaning… fulfilling simple tasks so that your loved one doesn’t have to. You may want their visit to provide some additional companionship to keep loneliness at bay. With your help and theirs, we’ll create and deliver your loved one’s bespoke care plan and conduct ongoing assessments to ensure it’s up to date.

You can relax. Your carer has their own experienced mentor, a supportive team, a wealth of training and is often working towards advanced care qualifications. We see the smiles, pride and appreciation that come from this role every day. And it’s not just from the clients we serve. It’s from our carers. They love seeing the daily difference they make. This isn’t a boring office job or a mundane 9-5. It’s a calling.

Your loved one might be (understandably) apprehensive. It can feel like quite a crossroads asking for help. Most people would rather scratch their left eyeball with a spoon than ask for help, but it’s often the best thing you can do for quality living and peace of mind. It soon becomes something to look forward to, but don’t take our word for it…

Pure Life Care is a trusted provider of in-home care services (and more) for the elderly across Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay and Kent. As life delivers its twists and turns, it’s our pleasure and purpose to bring additional warmth, light, connection and care into every home and cherished member of our community.

It’s the professional pampering they need with the dignity they deserve.

Why not find out firsthand how we can help and get in touch with one of the team?

Let’s be honest, we’d all love some light support with the domestic duties if we could. Ironing, cleaning, shopping… they wouldn’t rank highly on the “Top Activities to Enjoy in Kent”. Factor in advancing years, and potentially some mobility constraints and it’s borderline essential.

If your loved one is anything like ours, they’d probably sign up for a half marathon if it avoided making a fuss. But call us stubborn, irrespective of age or circumstances, everyone deserves a fuss and a safe, happy home.

And light domestic support for the elderly can be just the ticket for one and all…

Independence in Aisle #1…

Perhaps they’ve formerly cared for you and now the tables are turning. It’s more than understandable they don’t wish to be a burden. But at some point, those domestic essentials require a more agile pair of hands.

The benefits of light domestic care services for the elderly are numerous. Meal preparation, laundry, making the beds, shopping, tidying up and a friendly face to look forward to. It’s an additional layer of independence that allows them to stay in the home they love. It’s also a sigh of relief for you and your family knowing everything is taken care of around the home.

Your loved one may feel overwhelmed or frustrated that bleaching the bathroom seems to require ‘Hulk’ levels of strength and stamina these days. Especially when they could be enjoying a nice game of cards, popping out for tea and cake, or simply doing anything that doesn’t involve bleach.

Your visits and time can be spent catching up and chatting rather than trying to do their housework and yours.

So, how can you find the right light domestic support near you?

Pure Life Care is a trusted provider of light domestic care (and more) for the elderly across Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay and Kent. As life delivers its twists and turns, it’s our pleasure and purpose to bring additional warmth, light, connection and care into every home and cherished member of our community.

Your domestic carer is cherry-picked. You can look forward to consistency, companionship and professionalism. And you can relax because we pick your loved one’s carer exactly how we’d pick our own: perfectly.

Our team are trained, mentored, and motivated. We know that caring isn’t just a job. It’s dignity. It’s quality of life. It’s making a daily difference. And did we mention the cake?

With light domestic support, your loved one can continue living how they choose and have more time for what they enjoy.

We will discuss and assess their needs, provide a bespoke care plan and make sure your loved one is relaxed, happy and involved.

It’s the professional pampering they need with the dignity they deserve.

Is light domestic support the next logical step for your loved one?

To discuss your needs and find a supportive, experienced ear (or two), please get in touch here.
